Our Ladies went into their second away match of the season in high spirits, off the back of their home win against Tamworth last week.

Due to unfortunate circumstances our Ladies went away from home with a team of only 10, albeit a very strong team of 10 players.

The match got off to an even start, with both sides having few chance and a series of short corners. But neither side could convert to take the advantage. Eventually half way through the first half our leading goalscorer Fran Ball took control of the ball in the final third, taking on the entire defense she was able to get into the D and place a strike in the bottom right corner, past their keeper to make it 1 – 0 to Aldridge & Walsall Ladies 1s HC.

Unfortunately, late into the first half we had a goal disallowed due to a foot and Stone managed to equalise shortly before half time.

3 ladies team members during match warm up

Our Ladies re-shuffled slightly at half time to try and take more control in central midfield and push up Fran to hold the ball up front, with support from our wide players.

As the game went on our 10 ladies battled hard, but some clever short corner tactics meant that they conceded a few goals in quick succession. Eventually the game ended 4 – 1 to Stone 2s Ladies, a controversial 3rd goal seemed to swing the match in Stone’s favour once and for all, despite the ball being pushed over the goal line with a back stick.

Another strong performance from all areas of the pitch and positions, with some classy one twos throughout the match.

However, let’s see a strong turn out for training on Monday (8th October), so we can work on taking advantage of those crucial dead ball situations.
