Aldridge and Walsall got their league season off to a fine start with a 4-0 drubbing of league newcomers Berkswell and Balsall Common.

They took the lead early on with a fast counter attack, finished off by Wez Price who rounded the keeper and slotted home from a tight angle.

One quickly became two, this time Sef Huyskens selling the goalkeeper a dummy and tapping into an empty goal to double the lead.

Price was the provider shortly after, attacking down the right and pulling the ball back for Sunny Jheeta whose deflected reverse stick shot nestled low into the right corner of the goal.

Berkswell came out firing for the second half but Aldridge and Walsall weathered the storm thanks to some excellent saves from their captain Ben Humphreys and a goal-line clearance from Barry Guest.

And it was Guest who killed the game off mid way into the half, sending a penalty corner drag flick into the net to cap off a great performance for the visitors.

Aldridge and Walsall host Bromsgrove on Saturday at Aston Uni Recreation Centre.
